On the book list list. In the great long ago three books tugged my mind
into systems thinking and continue to be useful: differently.

Gregory Bateson (1979) Mind & Nature a Necessary Unity. Dutton

In his time, Bateson was like McLuhan. Everyone thought he was saying
something really profound but few understood. These days as I see young
people digging McLuhan like an adventure comic perhaps Bateson will get
another look

Paul Watslavick (1974?) The Pragmatics of Human Communication
A different look at communicative behavior

G. Spenser Brown (1972) The Laws of Form. Julian Press
A calculus for self-reflective systems
