1) A very large and geographically dispersed organization wants to
establish regional "learning units" within functioning business
facilities. The model for this is the "teaching hospital". There are no
"model units", i.e., locations which have gotten special attention and
resources to provide showcase appearance or performance. So the
expectation is that something like this can be accomplished at an
"ordinary" operation. I'm wondering how to design learning at such
locations. What special resources are needed? What kind of development
do the people at the location need to help them teach others? Has anybody
had any concrete experience along these lines? Or can you point me to
some reference literature? Or do you have some ideas of your own?
2) This company is initiating a new review process which is aimed at
looking at progress toward goals rather than individual or unit
"performance", and trying to switch from a beat-em-up form of review to a
kind of rigorous coaching model. I'm looking for film or video material
that models this kind of behavior. Any suggestions?
