Maybe someone's already said this, but it seems to me a willingness or
unwillingness to share is primarily situational. We take a reading on
whatever system we're in, and behave accordingly. Take my situation, for
example. The years go by. There're now, no doubt, a LOT fewer of them
ahead than behind. Realizing this, I'll talk about it* to my wife, the
chemical salesman next to me on the plane, the neigbor's kid, or a
reasonably attentive-looking stump.
*The optimum organizer of the study of any social entity--a clique, a
corporation, a culture, whatever--will be its five-component model of
reality, etc.
