Replying to LO3240 --

Barry Mallis asked for takers to his question:

"Does anyone recollect which of the commandmants is the only one to offer
a reward? What does it mean?"

I'll take a stab at it.

The commandment is "Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be
long in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee."

Seems to me that the quality of our relationships with our parents carries
over into all of our adult relationships. I'm not pretending to know much
about psychology, but in my own experience we play out our unresolved
feelings and conflicts with our parents in all areas of our lives all the
time, usually by projecting them onto unwitting others. In organizations,
this has lots to do with how well we relate to our co-workers, bosses,
subordinates and how we work (or don't work) in teams.

It brings to mind something I heard or read about Mother Theresa. Someone
who had just toured one of her homes where the poorest of the poor are
ministered to and was enthusiastic to help asked, "Mother Theresa, what
can I do?" To which Mother Theresa responded, "Love your family."
