Yes, Dave, I strongly agree with your thoughts about jargon use.

I know we could on this list continue a great debate about terms, jargon,
descriptives, etc. Personally, I try to avoid them, because I am no
longer steeped in academe. Were I constantly, daily in contact with
thinkers in the academies, I might use be tempted to learn and employ the
many vocabularies as I do not now.

But I am a lone voice outside that mainstream and in another. My desire
is, strangely, to "come to terms" (!) with the application of all our high
thoughts i.e. make it practical and useful in daily work. WOW! That's
hard! We make the familiar strange for the sake of analysis. Sometimes
we fail to make the strange familiar again for the sake of practical
application. Familiar to whom? Answer that.
