C09 - Who Will Play Your Music?: Creating an Imaginative Life
Michael Jones, PianoScapes

I first heard about Michael Jones in a session on Dialogue led by Judy
Sorum Brown at last years Greenleaf Center annual conference on
Servant-Leadership. A couple of weeks later I purchased a couple of
Michael's tapes and played them as I drove up to Glenwood Springs,
Colorado to visit the site where 14 firefighters had lost their lives
earlier that year in the South Canyon fire. Michael's music had a
profound impact on me.
The session started off with Michael asking the group to think about
the question, why did you choose to come to this session? Furthermore, we
were to frame our response in the form of a question. And then we shared
what we had with the small groups we were in. Thinking back to the first
time I heard Michael's music, my question was, What's behind the magic?
Some other questions explored in the session:
How can we make the unknown an inviting place?
How can we suspend the question, without needing the answer?
Why are we so good at playing others music?
What is the collective song? and my role in it?
And there was plenty of Michael's music and time for reflection. A
lot of images of fire came to my mind. Very powerful session.
