I think optics field researchers thought they knew everything about optics
a few years ago. Optics was described as a "closed" science in textbooks.
Then some really wierd people discovered holograms and optical fibers and
blew the field wide open.
I guess when people feel certainty, that's the time to be suspicious of
success.
