Re: LO2318 Metaphors LO2316 High Play

Doug Seeley talks of the need for high play. Can I also add joy, sorrow,
sensitivity, appreciation, curiosity etc the need for more emotion - more
of what it is to be fully human.

For me all of this learning organisation stuff is about being more fully
human, developing to a new level of consciousness where we learn to
integrate mind, body and soul into congruent, highly ethical, aesthetic,
sensitive, joyful etc ways of behaving.

Jean Houston has a simple model of different levels of human experience:

a physical sensory field
a psychological field
a symbolic field
an integrated/spiritual field

I feel that in our current era there has been much sanitisation of our
physical, sensory functions, we have become completely immersed in the
psychological to the detriment of the others, reduced the symbolic to
advertising slogans, and many resist spiritual connections.

So we are operating within a distinctly small field of what it is to be
human. One of Jean Houston's early works is "The Possible Human" and her
work centres on developing human capacities more fully and more integrated
than traditional development models.

In reference to John Warfield's (LO2318) metaphors re: surfers, skin
divers and pearl divers I found it interesting that you used these
metaphors as for me they seem to represent different depths of exploring
our unconsciousness.

I know it has been said by others but I do feel that whilst much of our
evolution has focussed on our external realities it is time to balance
this with explorations within ourselves.

And a warm hello to Doug Seeley, I have been going to say Hi for sometime
being a resident of Adelaide.
