ADAPT is a European Union Human Resources Initiative. It is designed to
encourage innovative programmes which will help SMEs [Small & Medium-sized
Enterprises - c. $30m sales and under 500 employees]. In March we put out
a request for transnational ADAPT partners to this list. We received more
replies than we needed and as a result we submitted a project entitled
"Engineering & Food Industry Learning Organisation Development". [Partner
selection was on a first come basis...and then the modem packed up before
we could say thanks to all other interested parties. Please accept belated
thanks].

243 aapplications were received by the Irish Dept. of Enterprise &
Employment, under the Adapt Initiative and 40 were approved. We have
received a letter signed "Richard", from Richard Bruton, Minister for
Enterprise & Employment, saying "I am delighted to inform you that,
despite very keen competition, I am approving your application to proceed
to the Project Development Phase...Finally, I would like to thank you for
your excellent application..."

We now need to 'seriously design the project', according to the
department's admin. people. An approach suggested is that we form an Irish
Organisation Learning Centre [OLC] and bring the SME teams together for
'Collaborative Learning'.

We look forward to working with our partners and creating something
outstanding together to advance the Learning Org ideas in Europe. Our
thanks also to Rick Karash and the LO-list for enabling us to link up with
interested partners. Best Regards,
