I'll try to satisfy that: May I coin a phrase? ("Oh no, not another
one...") It has to do with what we might call the difference between a
"learning" organization and a "teaching" organization.

Mr. Vandenbosch and I had been corresponding about the impact of Internet
technology on educational systems. He'd been teaching high school in
Michigan for thirty years, and is greatly concerned at the dominant
inability of some systems, and people in them, to respond to the challenge
of the Internet. When he sent me the Illich quote, I was excited by its
prophetic vocabulary: the "web" in 1970, and it was with that in mind that
I forwarded it to this group.
