Replying to LO2050 --

I know a retired school teacher who told of a family where they lived quite
isolated and the parents hardly ever talked. The children developed their
own language and nobody else could speak or understand it. I think this is
a good metaphor for what goes on so often in the world: we keep to our own
kind and fool ourselves into thinking that everyone else thinks much as we
do, and we are amazed and astounded when we discover that things we take for
granted are not assumed by those who live in another group somewhere else.
