Picking up on a point Geoff Fountain made in LO1598: To paraphrase, is
"thinking on one's feet" necessarily the sign of innovation?

Geoff's probably right in his view of TOOF (how's that for onomatopeia!)
as consisting of a lot of firefighting. However, thinking on one's feet
could also refer to the ability to intuit rapidly the links -- and
therefore the value-added -- between seemingly disparate phenomena,
events, opportunities, etc. To me, it implies a flexibility that may be,
in part, innate but that, in any event, is crucially important in any
definition of leadership.
