I'm somewhat new to this thread, but I have been lurking for awhile.
Has Maslow's hierarchy of needs been brought up as an example of where
people are at in terms of their felt needs and then based on that,
incentives are developed?
For example, you can't talk about intrinsic motivations when people need
money to live, but when people have adequate salaries, then they want
something more from their work like recognition, satisfaction and
fullfillment.
I think that in a given organization, hierarchial as they are even though
we talk about teams etc., peoples needs vary somewhat with the various
levels and positions they hold.
Hope of a partnership can be a strong motivator where more money and
shorter hours may mean nothing.
Any way what about applying Maslow to the ideas of incentives?
