Replying to Tim Sullivan's LO874 --

(paraphrasing) In the application of your SimView software and methodology
in Australia, are there any studies or reports on the Learning
Organiyational benefits..??

Tim, certainly all of the benefits alluded by Senge as the benefits of the
use of MicroWorlds within the organization are commonly experienced with
our clients. An immediate effect is that significantly more people in the
organization open up to the "Big Picture" of their systems' behaviour, and
their thinking is never the same again.

In one very well documented and publicly presented situation, not only was
more than ten million dollars saved, but Senge's section on "Ending the
War Between Work and Family" was validated. The whole systems solution
which was reached changed the work practices of the labour crews involved
in a way which made things much more predictable and manageable for the
individuals involved, that their quality of lives improved.

Generally speaking, We are seeing benefits to the organizations in one or
more of the following areas, i) improved consideration and selection of
work practices, ii) much more effective negotiations with large clients,
external authorities, and major components of the supply and demand
chains, and iii) more effective decisions in the capital investment arena.
Often, important strategic proposals can be much more critically
evaluated, and decisions not to proceed with them can be seen as progress.

As far as direct impacts upon organizational structure are concerned, the
impacts are still small, and will probably take some time before they
emerge. I hope this addresses the questions You had in mind.
