In LO744, Marilyn Darling asks about experience in working with unions.
Although the union scene in Australia is in some ways very different from
that in the USA, the involvement of unions in LO initiatives in Australia
is the rule rather than the exception, particularly in public sector and
not for profit organisations. The unions here have built up a very useful
body of experience in participative work design and work place reform for
empowerment. I have suggested to a union based research organisation URCT
that they should join this network, which they will probably do shortly.
