Yeah, I've had the same experience: as a died-in-the-wool tv snob, I am
blissfully ignorant of whole swatches of contemporary culture that appear
to matter deeply to many people, provide their insights and images - and
bore me to tears!

Oi, vey! The common culture's explanation of women's motivation is enuff to
make me go wretch in a corner! What IS going on here? Disempowerment?
Inability to connect with real emotion? The best seller lists are awash in
both some interesting sfuff, IMHO, and an awful lot of trash, as has been
the case for so long as I can remember. But perhaps beauty (significance?
"Significance"!?) is also in the eye of the beholder? Even if so, I felt a
kindred spirit in your comment! Say on, Myrna, your posts are interesting!
