Replying to LO467 --

I teach an OD and a Problem Solving course at the University
of Maryland. We meet with the students only 4 times during the
semester. The only required meeting for the student is the
first one to make clear the written syllabus and answer questions
about the paper.
There are many students whom I do not see after the first
class, yet the work they turn in is almost perfect. It is their work,
because the mid-term exam and final exam is taken by them in person.
So to add to this conversation my experience over the past
couple of years is that all we may need to do for students is to
point them in the right direction, give them some resources to use,
get out of their way and watch them learn.
