i have to spend a great deal of time getting my students past the
"this is good" and "that is bad" stage. This is particularly true,
i think, when it comes to learning... judgments are antithetical
to learning, for the most part.
One thing that seems to help them get past this is when i point out
that a person's likes and dislikes, especially when those are
strongly held, tells us a lot more about the person making the
judgment, than it does about that being judged.
