"I like some of the questions - curriculum review is long overdue (maybe
it should really be constant, though generally the overhead is 'way too
high .). And I share Gene's and Kirby's disinterest in who's to blame: a
generally useless inquiry that mostly arouses more defense of the patently
absurd. But what SHOULD the curriculum be, in your view, gentlepersons?"

Sam, I'm not quite sure which list you pulled the comment off, so I'm
sending it back via both learning-org and wholesys-l. With the volume of
traffic going on around here I have long since become unable to keep track
- yet, its just marvelous.

I don't know what "the Answer" is, and if I thought I did I would try to
forget. I do seem to have a thought relating to what I recall was
Bertalanffy's initial perception of "General Systems Teaching." This had
to do with a set of fundamental principles of how things work across all
disciplines, and if one could develop an understanding of these principles
then one could move from discipline to discipline and take much of their
prior understanding with them - essentially not having to restart from
scratch.

Since I happened onto this a few years ago I have repeatedly been amazed
at how understandable things can be. I consider Bertalanffy's greatest
gift to me was an understanding of how to understand. And, as such, I
shall ever be a student of understanding.

I hope this is not construed as an attempt at an answer.
