Rkarash commented on the paradigm of executive incompetence and offered
some extended observations of his own. I've observed similar myopia, and
long ago named it, at least for myself: "Everybody's job is simple except
mine." I believe this is at the root of the kind of prejudice we're
referring to. This is the internal justification, for example, behind
labelling the accounting staff "beancounters" or the engineering staff
"sparks".

Stories from hell: I've met people who insisted that this kind of gross
simplification represented a great insight. And nonetheless believed,
not accidentally or thoughtlessly but in the full light of more or less
rational conviction, that their own roles should be immune to the same
"insight".
