I heard about a variation on the talking stick the other day. It doesn't
work if the stick is being passed around a circle, though, so doesn't
solve the problem that Daniel Aronson suggested.

If one or two people dominate, though, this helps. The "stick" is replaced
with a ball of yarn, and as it is passed, the ball is unwound, and a web
is created which helps trace the path of turns, as well as how many turns
people take.

It doesn't, however, help you make sure that turns are limited in time....
