It wasn't raining at my house when I left, so I assumed it had stopped raining at Plum Island too. It hadn't. I ran into rain before I got past Haverhill, and it was pretty miserable by the time I got to the refuge. All the other plover wardens had called in and canceled. At least I canceled in person.

Go Jeffords! Show 'em what independent New Englanders are made of.

I cheered out loud at my radio.

Not being at the beach, I got to listen to the Red Sox vs. Yankees game on the radio while I tried to catch up on household chores. Pedro had 12 strikeouts, so did Mike Mussina. Unfortunately the Yankees won so now the Red Sox have fallen to second place behind those dreaded Yankees. But heck, it's only May. And it was a really interesting game.
