Today's Reading: Grave Undertakings by Patricia E. Rubertone

Today's Starting Pitcher: supposed to be Tim Wakefield but Sox vs. Yankees is rained out. Wakefield will skip a turn and David Cone will pitch tomorrow.

The sky is heavy and I'm grumpy. I still have photographer's block. I dropped off the test roll of film to be developed this afternoon without much enthusiasm. The N80 was supposed to make me wildly happy. When does the wild happiness start? And what is the point of having a nice camera if I can't think of anything to take pictures of? Must be that heavy gray sky that's rolled in.

I'm still struggling to tie up loose ends on dozens of projects. OK maybe not dozens but enough that I can't keep 'em straight. I finally got the store working again on the IDRI web site so people can buy the book now. The hosting company provides all kinds of tools that supposedly make it easy to set up the "back office" but they are so abysmally slow that I could read pages of Grave Undertakings while I waited for each change to be saved. I suppose I could have folded newsletters while I waited except that I haven't gotten the newsletters printed yet. I did make the necessary last minute changes and send out a PDF version to the people whose email addresses I have so it's only the print version I have to take care of. It's just a matter of waltzing up to Kinko's with a floppy. What you say? Can't you upload the file? Well, yeah, but the way their (Kinko's) system is set up I'd have to pick up the printed copies in Burlington, MA rather than Salem, NH not that much further as the crow flies but way further as the traffic jams. No wonder I'm grumpy.

Any ideas what to get a ten year old bookworm who doesn't want books for her birthday?
