Today's Reading: The Samurai's Garden by Gail Tsukiyama Plum Island Bird List |

It's still hot out. István declared it as hot as North Africa. Never having been to North Africa I don't know. It feels approximately as hot as the Anza-Borrego desert but far more humid. It amuses me that many Hungarians say "hello" when they mean goodbye so I've been going around all day saying hello to everybody. It's a long trip home. I finished reading Budapest 1900 (long) and Urban Transportation (short) and haven't had time to get to a bookstore to get something Budapest-related to read on the flight home. After István dropped me off at the airport I discovered a shop that had a rack of English language paperbacks from Vintage Press so picked up a novel I thought would last for the entire trip: The Samurai's Garden by Gail Tsukiyama. Hello to Budapest. For now. |
