There was a plan for Passover. A good plan. I was to pick Nancy up at the bus station, drive her (and myself) to her sister's house in NH using directions I got from Map Quest, rendezvous with her parents there, participate in the seder save for drinking wine and eating brisket (actually they're not having brisket), pray for peace in Jerusalem a lot, come home to my hovel with Nancy. Ha! Her brother-in-law has a particularly virulent flu strain. Her Mom has a milder flu. Nancy has a cold. The brother-in-law flu strain is so virulent that the 'rents are visiting on the porch instead of in the house and planning to go out to dinner without the brother-in-law. Umm, does the restaurant set a place for Elijah? Where do you hide the afikomen? Will I have to eat brisket after all? Nope. Nancy who is already sick with a cold does not want to take any chances on catching this flu so we are going to spend the evening here at my house while I ply her with echinacea, lemon & honey, Vitamin C, zinc, etc. and read either the Haggadah or Autocrat of the Breakfast Table. Next year in New Hampshire! |
