The Old Mac

January 25, 1997

After an abbreviated walk (the rain started again) and lunch with Rita and Joan, I spent the rest of the day packing up the old Mac to give to Annette - finally. This was supposed to have taken place before Xmas but due to my excessive wait for the keyboard for my new one, and then the frantic holiday season, I never got it all together.

So, I unplugged everything including the new Mac, untangled the cables, labeled everything I was giving away, dug through piles of software to find the software for the Radius Pivot in case she ever needs to reload it, dug through piles and piles of manuals... It took a lot longer than I expected but it's done. Everything is neatly tied up with color coded velcro cable ties. The CPU is wrapped in a plastic bag lest the rain get it.

It's hard to believe that something that seems like a useless dead weight is of value. The darn thing still works quite well. It'll do what Annette needs for her labor organizing. I just needed to move closer to the 20th century before it ends...

Odd weather note: last night's snow changed to rain at my house in the wee hours and was all gone by morning. At Rita's, approximately a 10 minute drive from here, it never changed over and just kept snowing. Then it warmed up and made deep slush.
