Letters. Does e-mail count? I sent e-mail to one of the other Janet Egans - the Australian one - but haven't gotten a response. I also e-mailed David Siegel about something I thought I heard him say on the radio. He replied. A short one but at least a response. I got a nice e-mail from a reader of this journal, which I have not had time to respond to today as I've been doing my oceanography homework and out the rest of the day tending to stuff like meetings and groceries... necessities of life.
My letters are hardly literary works. My e-mail to David Siegel was positively stilted. Sigh.
Introduction to Oceans: I'm enjoying doing this week's reading about the history of ocean exploration. I'm trying to imagine Nansen deciding to design a ship specifically to be caught in the ice so he could study how the ice drifted. Planning to be stuck on board the ship for 2 years locked in the pack ice is mind boggling.
Auntmobile's Booboo: Got a check from the insurance company. Haven't even called North Reading Autobody yet. I just don't want to deal with the hassle of getting a rental car and being without the Auntmobile for a week or so. I'll have to move my entire Rhode Island Reference Library to the rental car. Hmm, got to stop using the Auntmobile as a mobile oceanography/ornithology lab.
The Blue Jacket: Hard as it may be to believe I have not yet returned the blue jacket to LL Bean despite the below zero temperatures making being unzipped rather painful. With my Icelandic sweater, a Polartec pullover, and several flannel shirts the blue jacket becomes unnecessary. Still, I should get a real winter jacket and I should convince LL Bean to redesign the zipper. Actually I saw in their new catalog that they have redesigned the zipper on the women's version of this jacket too bad I bought the men's...
Tonight's entry is not having my usual flare. Perhaps tomorrow...
