A Magician's Advice for Digital Artists: Mask the Mechanisms

Nelms reminds us the artist can take charge and determine more of what the user experiences. (We're still constrained by the mechanisms but we interpose illusions between them and the user.)







Is this a soft reclining chair for the user to sit in? If she leans back, will something grab her around the neck? It's up to you...but at least this slope will tempt her to recline.



With the neck-grabbing example, I'm still trying to make things more ergodic - but in a good way.
