Dear Family and Friends,
Oakes memorialized New Year’s weekend 2012 with The Ballad of Sir Glenn, which is on my website.
On April 24th we celebrated our 30th anniversary.
In May we traded our two cars for one 2012 Prius-C, in dark grey.
I got the photos of the Indigo Bunting and Mourning Warbler on Glenn’s Mt. Greylock trip. I photographed 159 avian species in 2012, eight more than in 2011, quite a few of which I picked up on this trip with Herman.
In late June we traveled from Montreal to Nova Scotia VIA sleeper, then we rented a car. The highlight of the trip was a dinner we hosted for the D’Entremont clan in Pubnico on the 4th of July at the Red Cap. Herman’s cousin Anne was our point person on the ground organizing it. On a Whale Watch on the Bay of Fundy we got Fulmar, Puffin, and Sooty and Greater Shearwaters, as well as whales.
We enjoyed a few days later in July with Ellie and Stauffer on Cape Cod where we heard Bob White, Whipporwill, and Chuck Will’s Widow.
In August we went to a Pool Party to celebrate Raymond Rios’s birthday.
In September our Prius-C was rear-ended and deemed totaled! We replaced it with the same model, but in white. We had a rental when George Keilbach got a Flicker.
Herman was still walking in October, but in November he broke his hip. He’s in rehab now, walking again, albeit slowly. He missed a slew of great birds while he was laid up, so his MA year list stands at only 273.
On a walk at Fresh Pond the day after Thanksgiving with the three Coopers we got the Barred Owl.
I am the Sergeant-at-Arms elect of the Google Toastmaster’s chapter.
May those who died in 2012, including Herman’s sister Peggy, rest in
Peace,
Feedback welcome to eva@theworld.com
