16-April-99 Across Newton with bike and camera

. .
.
I stuffed my expendable camera in the bike trunk this morning to try to use up the film and show you what I've been talking about.

I got the camera for under $20 somewhere in eastern Long Island on my way to my cousin Diane's wedding about four years ago. We drove to New London CT, spent the night there, and took the ferry to Orient Point. Darn! We forgot a camera, so we stopped at a drugstore and got this one. Modern color film and printers must be awfully forgiving, because the pictures almost always come out reasonable well.

I don't know my cousin Diane at all well. She and her two sisters lived in Corpus Christi, Texas, all the time we were growing up, and we probably only saw them three times the whole while; so it seemed particularly important to have some photos.

I've taken that camera on two canoe trips -- there were still pictures from the more recent one in it today -- and several bike club rides.

I succeeded in using up the roll of film. I was the third person in line when Newtonville Camera opened the doors this morning, and the pictures were ready when I came home. I like to keep my entries lean and quick to download, but, hey, c'mon, if you have some time to download the pictures, ride to work with me. Bring a water-repellent windbreaker! I got caught in a sprinkle a mile from home on the way back.
