US Navy Day

0100 hrs- 130 hrs

Japanese lost too many aircraft and aircrew to continue against what they expected were 2 carriers in operable condition. The Enterprise, as the only sizable fleet asset left, needed to be preserved.

After Santa Cruz, there are no more evenly matched carrier battles. The Japanese never again have the technologic parity nor numeric superiority, nor anywhere near the leavening of veteran aviators.
