9/10-Apr-40 Wellingtons and Hampdens raid German positions near Oslo.
10-Apr-40 FAA Skuas sink the Königsberg (detailed description of attack by NJ Hickman). Elements of KG/26 move to Stavanger.
21-Apr-40 RAF no. 263 Sqdn (18 Gladiator IIs) flown to Trondheim, using a frozen lake as a landing field.

HMS Ark Royal and Glorious depart England for Norway.

23-Apr-40 HMS Ark Royal and Glorious arrive off Norway. 6 Skuas launched to cover the Allied landings near Namsos and Aandulsnes. Ark Royal moved and 3 Skuas ditched while looking for her.
24-Apr-40 10 Skua, 24 Swordfish from aircraft carriers attack Trondheim airfield. 4 aircraft lost, 7 ditched.
25-Apr-40 5 hours of bombing destroy 13 a/c on the ground. By the next day, the rest were lost. Pilots were evacuated through Trondheim.

5 Skuas attack 30 He111s strafing an Allied convoy off Gudbrondsel. 1 He111 shot down; 1 Skua force-landed.

27-Apr-40 Skuas attack a "much larger" German bomber formation. 4 He111s claimed shot down and the attack broken up.
14-May-40 HMS Ark Royal attacked by He111s (reported sunk). 1 He111 and 1 Skua lost. The Battle of France had started.
20-May-40 No. 263 Sqdn returns again flying Gladiators.
26-May-40 No. 46 Sqdn brings Hurricanes. Several aircraft lost to the mud (using primitive fields) and several destroyed by bombing raids.
3-Jun-40 HMS Ark Royal and Glorious to Narvik to cover the withdrawal.
7-Jun-40 Surviving pilots from No. 263 and No. 46 flew off aircraft to land on HMS Glorious.
8-Jun-40 HMS Ark Royal escorts the withdrawing troop convoy. HMS Glorious confronted by Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, and sunk. Scharnhorst damaged.
13-Jun-40 No. 800 and No. 803 Sqdns send 6 and 9 Skuas to attack the Scharnhorst in Trondheim. They are met by stiff resistence from Bf109Es in Varnes and AAA. 8 Skuas lost.
