I decided to look through my files of old unread letters of Mom’s, etc, to see if a quick scan would come up with any references to the Burts (as a follow-up to a different person in the family tree you are pursuing), or anything. I didn’t find that, but I did find a stapled-together, handwritten information on Patrick Kilty’s descendants. The document says he married Mary Bermingham in 1889-90. She was born 7/25/1871 and died 12/29/1904. That death date coincides, as you see below, with the birth/death dates of their son James Kilty. The children were: Catherine Agnes b 7/16/1891, d 10/18/1899 (died at age 8) John Patrick b 06/25/1892, d 11/29/1952 >> married Agnes Bentham Stephan b 12/26/1894, d 06/18/1904 (died at age 9 1/2) Margaret Mary b 12/23/1895, d 01/09/1938 >> married Jeremiah Reidy Mary Irene b 07/12/1898, no date of death shown Agnes Clare b 09/07/1900, no date of death shown >> married Harry Andrasco Vincent Dominic b 11/10/1901, d 8/20/1902 (died at 9 months) Thomas b 05/10/1903, d 11/19/1906 (died at age 3) James b 12/29/1904, d 12/29/1904 >> the mother, Patrick Kilty’s wife, also died on this day Then, of course, as we know (and this is also in the document), Patrick Kilty went on to marry Winifred Hunt on 07/25/1910, and they had a daughter Alice on 05/01/1911. There’s lots of information about the Reidys in the document. The Reidys (Margaret and Jeremiah) had 8 children (plus a last child who was stillborn). The Reidy children were born from 1920 to 1935. So, it will be interesting to see which one Kilty Reidy is descended from. Mary Duddy (whom you heard from earlier) told us her grandmother was Mae, born in 1898. So, we now know that her full name was Mary Irene. As Mary Duddy told us, "Grandma's mom died when grandma was four. She had just given birth to a son who also died. When grandma was 13 her father (Patrick) died also and she started living with her older sister Margaret until grandma got married at the age of 24 to Albert Hoiss." That “older sister” whom she lived with was only 15 on Oct 31, 1911 when their father died. She would turn 16 two months later. Hard times. How did they support themselves? I have a photo of him in his Chicago police officer's uniform. You and I share dna, and we both share dna with Mary Duddy, who is my mother's half sister Mae Kilty Hoiss's granddaughter. My mother was Alice Kilty Casey (1911-1989). She was the only child of widower Patrick Kilty's second marriage. I was born in Chicago in 1946. I have lived in Massachusetts since 1979.
